the World in Six Days
6-day motorcoach tour
August 2 - 7, 2008
Activity Level 3
In just six
days, we’ll be experiencing the customs, food
and entertainment from all corners of the earth, at the largest
and longest running multicultural festival of its kind in the
world. Representing cultures from around the world, this extravaganza
is full of ethnic richness and traditions in culture, dance,
music, food and art. With over 40 pavilions, we’ll experience
the diversity of Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba, Canada
during this multicutural phenomenon. Come along on our “trip
around the world”!
Day
1 Enjoy
a Brown Bag Breakfast as we make our way north to Canada with
pickups along I-80, starting at Lexington, NE. Our
destination this first day is Watertown, SD where we’ll
visit the impressive Terry Redlin Gallery. This evening we enjoy
a myriad of activities at the Gallery, including a live concert
by the Oakridge Boys.

Day
2 This
morning we head North and cross the Canadian border (be sure
to have your “Passport”). Arriving in Winnipeg
in the afternoon, we check into our beautiful hotel, The Delta
Winnipeg. This will be our home for the next 3 nights. Conveniently
located in the heart of downtown, you are just steps away from
the City Place shopping center.
Then this evening we enjoy a delicious dinner at one of Winnipeg’s
fine restaurants.

Day 3 & 4 We will enjoy exploring and learning about this
beautiful city the next couple of days. We’ll be off on
a Winnipeg adventure on the Millennium Express where a 3-D powered
interactive stationary train ride back the the beginning of time.
It’s a peek at how the west was won Canadian-style.
Then both
evenings we will Celebrate the Cultures. We’ll
visit 3 different international pavilions at Folklorama with
ethnic food, drink, art and entertainment each night.
Some of our adventures include stopping at the Manitoba Legislative
Building, considered to be the finest and most beautiful of
Parliament buildings in all of Canada. Surrounded by colorful
gardens, we’ll tour this building and learn how different
the Canadian government is from our own.
Then we’ll
discover where people have gathered during the past 6000 years.
The Forks is where the Red and Assiniboine
Rivers meet, and today this green oasis in the heart of Winnipeg
boasts tree-lined walkways, spectacular views, inspiring sculptures
and marketplace.
A
local step-on guide takes us on an engaging tour,
showing us the highlights of the French Quarter
and the beautiful Assiniboine Park with the English Gardens and
Sculpture Gardens.

Day
5 This
morning we visit the Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature, touted
as one of the best interpretive museums in the country.
We’ll travel across Manitoba in eight interpretive galleries
and learn of the fascinating landscape and history. Leaving Winnipeg,
we again cross the border (be sure to have your Passport ready)
heading to Fargo, ND. We’ll visit the impressive Hjemkomst
Norwegian Center in Moorhead, MN. Here we’ll explore the
Hjemkomst ship and learn about its historic voyage to Norway
and interesting Viking History.

Day
6 Today
we head back to Nebraska with many fond memories of our wonderful
learning experience and our “Trip Around
the World”. A delicious farewell lunch will be enjoyed
by all.
